Before her | After her — Sharing the stories of amazing her Elevated clients and their personal words of how attending her Elevated has “Elevated’ their lives…

Nur is here sharing her story with us!

————————————————————-

I find my focus when I walk to a Her Elevated class. I push myself to pick up a heavier weight than the day before (my terrible poker face gives away the struggle). I look forward to the lifts, stretches, jokes and camaraderie. I love having a community I can breathe with in between obligations.

The most important change in myself since joining Her Elevated is I feel well enough again to show up for others. Three years ago, I struggled to get out of a cycle that I'm sure many have faced -- stress, unhappiness, and dysregulation that likely resulted from a combination of my job, body changes from becoming a mother, living through a pandemic, losing family members to illness, losing friends to poor communication.

I chose to work out at Her Elevated around that time because I knew I needed more than a job change (which I also made) and I wanted it to not feel like a burden. Walking to classes with lots of timing options helps me meet all my other daily needs and that matters.

What I've relearned since Her Elevated is to be mindful of myself physically and mentally. What can I do to uplift myself and others around me? What can I do to feel stronger and more capable of taking on the tasks ahead? What can I eat that makes me feel good throughout my day and week? Do I rest enough to help restore my body so I can be more present?

What's funny is I kept these questions central when pregnant seven years ago. What I lost a few years later was the ability to cut through noise and difficulties to ensure I kept up taking care of myself.

So I spend these few hours a week lifting and loving myself, for me to show up for the world.

I still struggle. Even tonight, I am thinking I could have walked more, moved more, eaten better, called my mom, laughed more, called a friend.

I have always wanted to do more to contribute to our world, and make it the best it can be for all of us, especially for those who do not have a voice, or have been discriminated against, or excluded from being fully themselves. My privilege to take part in a Her Elevated world is not lost on me. But tomorrow is a new day and I will elevate myself to help make the change that allows others to elevate themselves how they want. That's what Her Elevated has given me, and I am forever grateful.
